Electra S. Ward, founder of Scale My Beauty Brand is also the proud creator of the product based brand that started it all, Mysteek Naturals. She created a temporary hair color that is completely free of harsh chemicals. The company is a Black woman, veteran-owned small business and she started developing the product in 2017.

She started her company because, like so many other women, she was desperate for vibrant popping color without destroying her hair. Permanent dyes were full of harsh chemicals, and the rinses were dull, weak, and nothing close to the bold results she imagined. So she created what she couldn’t find, a fun, fearless alternative that delivers the vibrant popping color women crave, without the damage. She created a Rockstar in a Jar.

Electra S. Ward realized through her own bootstrapping journey that countless product-based business owners were struggling just as she once did. Many were trying to grow from the kitchen to the warehouse without real guidance or a solid blueprint. She remembered how confusing, lonely, and frustrating it was to search for help while only finding breadcrumbs of information scattered in different places.
After attending conferences, joining masterminds that did not speak to product-based needs, and reading books that did not address her reality, she discovered a major gap in the industry. There are very few resources that focus on the specific challenges of product-based businesses. Things like automations, systems, SOPs, logistics, and the ongoing analysis required to scale a physical product brand are rarely discussed, even though they are critical for sustainable growth. That realization became her mission.

As her product-based brand continued to grow, Electra began receiving more and more emails, text messages, and social media DMs. Entrepreneurs were asking where to start, how to scale, and what steps to take next. Many of them were exhausted from their own journey of digging through the internet, collecting confusing and often conflicting information.
Electra frequently found herself explaining that while service-based and product-based businesses share a few similarities, there are also critical differences that must be understood in order to grow successfully. That ongoing need sparked an idea.
